Lakeshine Quilt Pattern | Meet the Pattern Testers

Lakeshine Quilt Pattern | Meet the Pattern Testers

I barely have words to be honest.

The testers I was privileged to have test for my Lakeshine Quilt absolutely hit it out of the park.

From over 100 applicants, I narrowed it down to 10 quilters who took my pattern and with their own unique eye for colour, pattern and purpose, made my pattern their own.

It was surreal to watch other quilters take my very first published pattern, turn it into something they will use and love and to see the spectrum of interpretations they brought together as a group.

I cannot say enough about their collective professionalism, enthusiasm and skill.

I am so proud to showcase their versions of Lakeshine here.  Please show them some love and give them a follow on social media (linked).

Rich & Radiant

Made by Rae

Rae's scrappy lap-size version of Lakeshine is a joyful study in colour. Using solids in wide ranges of warm and cool tones, she gave every block its own personality while the deep green running throughout keep the whole quilt beautifully connected. It's a great example of just how much variety you can create in Lakeshine using colour alone.

Cool & Calm

Made by Kali

Kali's baby size Lakeshine feels right at home beside the water. The cool-toned, collected fabrics give a coastal feel while the golden center block brings in warmth. She kept the star-centers consistent and then surrounded them with subtle plaids, stripes and textures to add interest. Kali's version shows how Lakeshine can feel cohesive without every block needing to match.

Soft & Sweet

Made by Ellyse

Ellyse's yardage version shows just how much the pattern can change with a quieter palette. Soft lavender, pink, dusty blue and muted sage give the stars just enough contrast to stand out. The limited palette lets the design do the work and gives a soft, calm feel without losing any detail.

Playful & Punchy

Made by Vanessa

Vanessa made her lap size Lakeshine entirely from fabrics she already hand on hand. Rather than matching fabrics from block to block, she repeated colour combinations - like red centres surrounded by blue with the same yellow frame. It's a clever way to create structure within a scrappy quilt: fabrics can change, but repeating the colour placement keeps the whole design connected. The result is bright, playful and full of personality.

Beautiful & Bold

Made by Debbie

Debbie too Lakeshine in a completely different direction with a fearless mix of saturated purple, fiery orange and vivid red.  The intense colour shifts give the quilt an almost glowing quality, with the stars seeming to radiate outward into the surrounding blocks.  It'v vibrant , energetic and unapologetically bold - a great example of how dramatically Lakeshine can transform with an unexpected colour story.

Warm & Woodsy

Made by Kathryn

Kathryn's throw size Lakeshine has a crisp, graphic quality that really highlights the geometry of the design.  Deep purple and green frame the warm golden stars, while the pale background creates plenty of breathing room between the stronger colours.  From a distance the blocks, begin to interact and reveal a secondary pattern across the quilt - one of those details that becomes more apparent the longer you look.

Light & Lovely

Made by Brenda

Brenda's version of Lakeshine takes a softer approach, pairing watery blue and green with washes of pink.  The colours blend gently from one block to the next, givign the quilt an alomst watercolour quality while the repeating stars still carry the design across the surface. It's a lovely example of how Lakeshine can feel light and relaxed event with plenty of colour in the mix.

Fresh & Floral

Made by Barbara

Barbara's version shows how beautifully prints can play within the pattern.  Soft pink stars frame delicate floral centers, while the deeper green dot creates a strong foundation for the lighter prints scattered throughout the quilt.  Mixing print scales adds texture and interest up close, while the coordinated colours keep everything feeling cohesive when you step back.

Merry & Modern

Made by Laura

Laura gave Lakeshine a festive twist with classic red and deep green set against a light, subtly printed background.  The strong colour placement turns the stars in to the focal point, while the bright blue and lime green accents give it a modern touch.  It feels unmistakably Christmassy without relying on holiday-themed fabrics - a great example of how a familiar seasonal palette can completely change the character of the quilt.
